Iran volleyball holds coaching workshop

Coaches from all around Iran joined the course: coaches of super league teams, first division teams, youth and junior teams in both genders, and amateurs

Tehran, Iran, August 19, 2012 – A one-day workshop with 75 participants was held at the Iran Volleyball Federation’s main hall in Azadi Sport Complex, Tehran.

Participants comprised coaches from all around the country – applicants included coaches of super league teams, first division teams, youth and junior teams in both genders and other amateur coaches.

The workshop was led by the assistant coach (to Julio Velasco) of the national senior men’s team, Juan Manuel Cichello, who like Velasco hails from Argentina. The session featured theoretical explanations of updates and modern techniques.

There was also a session on tactics of volleyball, including coaching during the match, defensive tactics, offensive tactics, and analysis of opposing teams.

Cichello emphasized that during the match a coach should take notes for themselves, especially on players’ tactical mistakes. During the next training they should work over these mistakes. He explained that a coach should know the international standards of team movement and try to bring their team close to those standards.

At the end of the workshop a 30 minute question and answer session took place.
