Pires says May-Treanor and Walsh truly “inspire a generation”

"Nobody in this sport has bigger hearts than Misty and Kerri," says Pires

London, Great Britain, August 10, 2012 – Former Olympic gold medallist Sandra Pires of Brazil says Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor have embodied the the Olympic spirit over the past three games – and she hopes that spirit rubs off on the generation of great young teams coming up the ladder now in the latest blog for the FIVB website.

Pires also discusses the intangible ingredients that make good teams better and great teams unbeatable, which May-Treanor and Walsh have in abundance.

“The experience and focus of Misty and Kerri was worth 10 points in each set,” says Pires. “They weren’t having a good season this year on the FIVB SWATCH World Tour, [but] here they are at the very top, the pinnacle of our sport.”
