"The team is growing at the right moment" says Brazil star Murilo Endres

Brazil played with great consistency in all fundamentals, thereby minimizing the impact of Facundo Conte, Argentina's top scorer, here stopped by a triple block composed by Bruno Rezende, Sidnei dos Santos Junior and Murilo Endres

London, Great Britain, August 8, 2012 – “We did a very good match, tactically speaking. We were very focused, we played in the correct way. For now it’s good to go through (to the semifinals)” said Brazil coach Bernardo Rezende after the 3-0 win of his side against Argentina. “We managed to control the pressure. We knew how to read their play. We had a quarterfinal against an Argentina side that was playing very well, but we need to improve”.

“Today we played a very consistent match, compared to our first matches when we were a bit nervous. The goal was to make the minimum errors and I think the team is growing at the right moment” commented top scorer Murilo Endres. “Argentina is an opponent for Brazil in volleyball, but also football and basketball, but we deserve the victory. It’s maybe our best match this year so far. We controlled very well the match. Little by little, I have started to get more confidence and the preparation has helped a lot”.

Argentina team captain Rodrigo Quiroga said: “I feel very sad, it is really frustrating because we could never really get in the game. We knew we had to risk our serve to have a chance, but Brazil were lethal. This is a great experience and it's great for us for the future. We are young and the fact that we finished in the top eight helps us to improve”. About the possible composition of the podium at the end of the Olympic tournament, Quiroga added: “Obviously Brazil are very strong, but I have been impressed by the United States. They are playing fantastic. And you can’t forget about Russia. They are and will always be a big power”.
