They killed us down the middle -Australia's Yudin

Argentina's star Facundo Conte along with his father, the legendary Hugo Conte, his mother and sisters who came to London to cheer for him and his team

Javier Weber, coach of Argentina: I am very happy, it was very important for us to win the first game. We played very well in the attack. It is very good for our mentality since it was not easy for our young team to win the first game of the Olympic Games.

On Australia coach Jon Uriarte coaching against his son Nicolas Uriarte:

I think it was more difficult for Jon than for me because his son was with us. But it is very important for Argentinean volleyball because we have two Argentinean coaches and it is very good for our country.

Rodrigo Quiroga, captain of Argentina: I am happy. We have been waiting for four years to play this game. I feel pretty good without any pressure. I think now we have our rhythm for the next few days.

Jon Uriarte, Coach of Australia: Every match is difficult. We need to play every single one at 100 per cent. We need to improve and play with more energy and determination. Our plan relied on our serves and we couldn’t serve good enough.

Igor Yudin, Captain of Australia: It's very disappointing to lose this game. Argentina is a very good team, but we have the level to win. Their middle attack just killed us today. We need to do better for the next few days.
