Lausanne, Switzerland, July 18, 2012 – The drawing of lots for the beach volleyball competition at the Olympic Games will be streamed live on www.fivb.org on Thursday when it takes place at the venue of the 2012 FIVB Beach Volleyball SWATCH World Tour Klagenfurt Grand Slam starting at 20:00 (local time).
A total of 24 teams per gender will learn in which of the six preliminary phase pools they will be drawn in. The pairs will be split equally into six pools, playing each team in their group, with the top two advancing to the knockout final phase along with the two best third-placed teams. The remaining four third-place teams will then compete in Playoff matches to determine which pairs will fill the final two places in the First Round.
