Beach Volleyball Referee Course begins in Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, July 6, 2012 – The FIVB Regional Development Center in Dominican Republic opened a Beach Volleyball International Referee Course on Friday. The activity is supported by NORCECA Confederation and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
The course is under the direction of Norway’s David Cox who has a vast experience as Beach Volleyball Referee and FIVB Supervisor. Belgium’s Christian Didembourg, who has been an international referee for the past 16 years, is the instructor for this event.
Twelve referees from Brazil, Belize, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts & Nevis and Saint Lucia are taking part in the course. Nine of them are sponsored by NORCECA Confederation as part of its Development Program for National Federations Category 1 and 2.
Nelson Ramírez, director of the Development Centre, said the number of participants is one reflect of the continued advance of Beach Volleyball in the area.
The event last until July 11 when the participants will receive their certificates during the closing ceremony to be held at NORCECA headquarters in Santo Domingo at the conclusion of a beach volleyball competition organised on the occasion of the important course.
