Cuba win terrific match against Serbia

Kaliningrad, Russia, June 22, 2012 – Cuba bounced back from a one set deficit to seal a 3-1 (20-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-23) win over Serbia in Kaliningrad, Russia on Friday stay top of Pool A of the 2012 FIVB Volleyball World League.
Leon Wilfredo was the best scorer with 22 points while Nicola Kovacevic topped the register for Serbia with 14.
The first set started with strong serves from both teams as they traded points. Two unforced errors saw Cuba continue to stay ahead before Serbia called their first time out. It seemed to work as they grew in confidence, taking a four-point lead and then eventually the set.
Cuba began the second well, leading by two points at the first TTO before Serbia leveled at 10-10. Cuba did not stop fighting however and came back to take the set.
Cuba again started well in the third, taking a 8-4 lead at the first TTO after an exceptional play from captain Leon in both serving and spiking. They remained ahead for the most of the set thanks to the terrific serving of Estrada Sem, who closed the set.
The lead in the fourth changed continuously and at 18-17 the Serbia requested a time out. But it proved futile as Cuba claimed the win.
