Lausanne, Switzerland, June 9, 2012 – Poland cemented their place at the top of Pool B of the 2012 FIVB Volleyball World League on Saturday as they defeated Finland while hosts Brazil delighted their home fans as they beat Canada in Sao Bernardo.
Poland recovered from going a set down to clinch a 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-13) win over their European rivals while Brazil beat Canada in straight-sets (25-22, 25-17, 25-11).
“We started the match well, but ended it totally confused in the court,“ Finland captain Tuomas Sammelvuo said. “That could not happen against such a strong team as Poland. Now we have to forget this match and think about the next one, which will be very important for us.“
