Sri Lanka launches School Volleyball Championships

Mr Nandadasa Rajapaksa Managing Director of D Samson Group hands sponsorship over to President of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and Hon Minister Dilan Perera as the tournament officially gets underway on Thursday
Colomb, Sri Lanka, June 9, 2011 - The 13th edition of the DSI Super Sports School Volleyball Championships conducted by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation in collaboration with the D Samson Group of Companies, and the Ministry of Education of Sri Lanka got underway on Thursday in the country with over 5,000 school teams competing.

A media briefing and a ceremonial handing over of the sponsorship was held on Tuesday at the Olympic House in Colomb. The main championship will be conducted at district; provincial and national levels for both men and women and players will be split into under 18, under 16 and under 14 categories.

In addition, the mini tournament, The Super Kids Volleyball Fiesta, will also be held for participants under 12-years old.                                

More than 5000 school teams from all over the country will compete at the annual event, which has created a great interest among the school children in the country.
