Groundbreaking VolleyAll Festival held in Christchurch

Over 500 children took part in the festival
Christchurch, New Zealand, May 9, 2011 – A FIVB Volley All Festival was held from April 15 to 16 at West Spreydon School in Christchurch, New Zealand with the event being described as amazing by many.

Held just a few months after the devastating earthquake that hit the region the event helped provide an antidote for all the months of fear, as aftershocks continue to rock the city.

The festival began on the Friday with local schools attending before families were welcomed on Saturday. Overall there were over 500 children participating.

“Instead of being a place of fear, I feel like we re-claimed the school grounds today as a place where our children can have fun again,” said one parent.

The Volleyball Federation of New Zealand used the initiative alongside its "Set for Life" KiwiVolley project for children from eight to 12-years old.
