Volleyball Federation of Serbia celebrates 85th anniversary with public exhibition

 
A number of special guests were present at the opening ceremony including former captain of the women's senior team Natasa Lukovic and former men's player and FIVB Development Commission member Vladimir Grbic
 
Belgrade, Serbia, January 7, 2010 - The Volleyball Federation of Serbia celebrated its 85th anniversary recently with a public exhibition of photos, trophies, and other memorabilia.

The exhibit, placed in the National Television Gallery in Belgrade, was attended by Mr Nikola Mirkov, Director of National TV, Mr Sava Grozdanovic, former Head Coach of the Yugoslavian men’s and women’s national teams, Mrs Snezana Samardzic–Markovic, Minister of Youth and Sports for the Serbian Government, and Mr. Aleksandar Boricic, FIVB Executive Vice-President and President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia.

Mrs. Natasa Lukovic, team captain of the Yugoslav senior women’s team at the 1951 European Championship, when Serbia achieved its first ever medal, presented Ms. Sara Klisura, best server at the 2009 Youth Girls’ World Championship and 2009 Youth Girls’ European Championship, with a special plaque for the celebration, marrying Serbia’s successful past in the sport with its potential future.

Mr. Vladimir Grbic, FIVB Development Commission member and one of the most iconic Serbian players of all time, also presented a special plaque to Mr. Aleksandar Atanasijevic, MVP of the 2009 Youth Boys’ World Championship.

Meanwhile, VIP Mobile, general sponsor of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, has been awarded the Best Marketing Event of the year for the 2009 VIP Beach Masters by The Society of Serbian Economic Advertisers in Belgrade.
