Dominican Brenda Castillo was elected MVP

Dominican Brenda Castillo was elected as MVP of the competition

Mexicali and Tijuana, Mexico, July 26, 2009 – Dominican Brenda Castillo was honored Saturday night as the Most Valuable Player of the FIVB Women’s Junior World Championship.
Members of the media covering the competition as well as the members of the Control Committee took part in the voting process.
The tiny but multi-talented Castillo of the runner-ups Dominican Republic was also selected as Best Digger, Best Receiver and Best Libero of the world event won by Germany.
Chen Shih Ting of Chinese Taipei captured two awards as Best Scorer with 150 points in eight matches, and also Best Spiker with a successful percentage of 50.79.
German Lena Mollers earned the Best Setter award, Turkish Nesve Buyukbayram was presented the Best Blocker recognition and Cuban Gyselle Silva was selected as Best Server.
The awards were presented by Mr. Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, First Executive Vice President of FIVB, Mrs. Marta Centeno de Sajche, FIVB Executive Vice President and Mr. Saul Castro Verdugo, President of the Organizing Committee.
