Expanded Television Coverage for 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Championships
Stavanger, Norway, July 5, 2009 - With attendance already exceeding 100,000 for the first 10 days of competition, the 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Championships presented by ConocoPhillips will produce the most television for any Beach Volleyball event outside of the Olympic Games. With Sunday’s last day of play featuring the men’s “final four” schedule on the Vaagen Harbour centre court, the 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Championships will generate over 72 hours of televised action to five continents since the start of competition June 25 to double the number broadcast hours from the 2007 world finals in Gstaad, Switzerland. Featuring “live” daily coverage to 180 territories and a potential of 2.3-billion viewers, the 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Championships has 42 broadcast right owners as compared to 24 in Gstaad.
