Volleyball England’s new President open to ideas
Loughborough, England, August 6, 2014 - Geoff Allen, Volleyball England’s new President, has chosen an interesting approach to help him start his mandate and arrange his priorities. Through the national federation’s website, he has issued an invitation to all volleyball players, past and present, to share their ideas with him.
Geoff Allen has published his direct email address and would like to hear from England’s volleyball family on how to move the sport forward and make it better for members. In his message, the new President has assured that he will take on board everybody’s views and opinions, although he may not always be able to reply to each email individually. Mr Allen has also promised confidentiality to those who wish to keep the content of their messages to him private.
Geoff Allen was elected at Volleyball England's annual general meeting in late July. Voting took place with a record number of proxy votes and members present.
There were several new appointees when the Board members were elected: Will Roberts, Development Director, Delvin Lane, Marketing Director, and Ben Pipes, Performance Commission President. Formal approval was needed for two Board members currently acting on an interim basis: Maria Bertelli, Schools & Youth Development Commission President, and Jefferson Williams, Playing Director.
The meeting continued with voting for the President, Vice-President and International Events & Competitions Director roles. Once the votes were all cast, the following new members were elected: Geoff Allen, President, Keith Nicholls, Vice-President, and Rob Cook, International Events & Competitions Director.
Other nominated members were: Paul Bohannan, Competitions Commission President, Steve Evans, Referees Commission President, Charlie Orton, Regional Commission President, John Boughton, Finance Director, and Richard Harrison, Coaches Commission President. The last two positions were not due for re-election in the current cycle.
Outgoing Board members Janet Inman and Marzena Bogdanowicz were both thanked by Interim President Brian Stalker. As Brian Stalker himself was also leaving the Board, Honorary President Richard Callicott thanked him for his many years of dedication to Volleyball England and presented him with a gift from the Board.
