Subotica, Serbia, August 5, 2014 – The Lord Mayor of Subotica, Jene Maglai, hosted a reception at City Hall on Tuesday for the women's junior national team of Serbia and participants of the FIVB International Referee Candidates Course.

The delegation of the IRCC participants was headed by Russian Sergey Titov, Secretary of the FIVB Refereeing Commission and Course Director, and Alexander James Steel of Scotland, President of the FIVB Rules of the Game Commission and Course Instructor.

The delegation of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia was led by Dejan Jovanovic, member of the Executive Committee of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, and Darko Djurickovic, Coordinator of All Serbian National Volleyball Teams. The reception was also attended by Simon Dzines from FYR Macedonia, the BVA Supervisor at the Junior Women’s Balkan Championship, which is being held in Subotica.

The guests were welcomed by the Lord Mayor of Subotica and Vjekoslav Ostrogonac, member of the City Council in charge of Sports, Youth and Tourism.

Mr. Jovanovic handed the Lord Mayor a plaque from the Volleyball Federation of Serbia for the long-term and successful cooperation the City of Subotica has made to the development of volleyball in Serbia.

“We constantly promote volleyball in Subotica, and in this way we are promoting the city itself,” the Lord Mayor said. “We want our kids to play this wonderful sport, and because of that we are organizing these kinds of events with our trusted partners from the Volleyball Federation.”
