"The Legend of the Flying Volleyball Player" returns to Milan
"The Legend of the Flying Volleyball Player" recreates a part of the history of Italian volleyball and is back by popular demand. It serves as a perfect appetiser for the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship, to be held in Italy from September 23 to October 12, with the competition's final phase taking place in Milan from October 8-12.
The show, which follows the grand adventures of Andrea Zorzi, tells the story of how one of volleyball's legends started playing the sport in Veneto province, before taking on the world. The show will begin at 20.00 on Thursday 26 September and will be preceeded by an introductory talk show in which Zorzi's guests describe the emotions they have experienced at World Championships. Entrance will be free. Donations will go to the non-profit Operation Smile Italy organisation, which has run missions in over 60 countries around the world for over 10 years bringing reconstructive plastic surgery to people suffering from severe facial deformities. More information is available from their website: www.operationsmile.it
On the morning of Friday, 27 September, the play will be staged for students from schools in Milan.
The "The Legend of the Flying Volleyball Player" is just one of the many events organised by the Local Organising Committee in Milan ahead of the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship in Italy. Other events will include volleyball tournaments and initiatives to promote volleyball in schools and with physical education teachers. Details will be announced soon. Additional information on the World Championships can be found on the official website www.italy2014.org or on the website of the Regional Committee of Lombardy www.lombardia.federvolley.it
