Armenia’s youngsters combine beach volleyball and fair play
The young participants used special beach volleyballs donated by CEV and its partner and supplier Mikasa. They competed in different age groups. An amateur tournament was also organised for veteran players and representatives of the Armenian media. The children all left the venue at Lake Sevan with great impressions and memories to share with their friends back home, hoping to return next year for an even more successful edition of the Summer Festival.
“We would like to thank the CEV for their support because more and more people have been getting involved in volleyball lately,” said the Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Armenia, Karen Asmaryan. “This event, combined with the street volleyball tournament we have just organised in Yerevan, clearly shows that volleyball is developing here in Armenia and that our country will soon make its debut on the international arena.”
“The event held on the shores of Lake Sevan epitomises the quintessence and core mission of the Youth Summer Festivals,” CEV President André Meyer said. “We want to involve more and more of our youngsters in beach volleyball, making sure they get to learn its ABC in a spirit of friendship and fair play. This way we are contributing to the development of our sport, spreading it across regions where there is still much room for improvement and, at the same time, we are educating our children to respect rules and learn a series of positive values, including fair play, something that will benefit our society as a whole.”
