Thai children get a taste of playing the sport of volleyball at the Chang Thailand Volley All Festival 2014
Bangkok, Thailand, July 5, 2014 - The Chang Thailand Volley All Festival 2014 kicked off at the campus grounds of Ramkhamhaeng University with an estimated number of 1,000 primary school children participating in the event on Saturday.

Thailand Volleyball Association organised the event to spark interest and activate the involvement of young Thai children aged 12 years old in the sport of volleyball. The event was supported by Thai Beverage, and other official sponsors and co-sponsors including AirAsia, Grand Sport Group and Provincial Electricity Authority.

The two fun-packed days also aimed to promote the unity, generosity and friendship among Thai youth.

President of the Thailand Volleyball Association, Mr Somporn Chaibangyang, was the guest of honour during the opening ceremony.

Mr Somporn Chaibangyang, president of the Thailand Volleyball Association, was the guest of honour at the opening ceremony.

"I would like to thank all journalists covering this event, parents of all children and coaching staff, who all gathered here to do something good for our young volleyball lovers,” Chaibangyang said. “This is a good opportunity to introduce our children the rules of the game, provide them with a competitive advantage, and help them develop a passion for the sport. I hope that you will enjoy all the activities and to have fun with volleyball.”

The participants of the Thailand Volley All Festival looked very excited when they were split into smaller groups to join volleyball matches with players from the Thailand men’s national team. Aside from receiving souvenir shirts and balls, the young players were also treated to a special show of Siam Niramit and some fun playing at the Dream World amusement park.

Those participants who traveled from upcountry got free board and lodging during the two-day event, which will conclude on Sunday, July 6. While some participants have returned happily to their provinces on Saturday, they all cited that they look forward to next year’s Volley All Festival.
