Vladimir Grbic’s master classes enchant thousands of kids

The master classes organised by Olympic champion Vladimir Grbic always attract hundreds of kids to the venue of the Novi Sad Masters

Novi Sad, Serbia, July 3, 2014 - The Novi Sad Masters always stands as a synonym for elite beach volleyball but also for the opportunity that is being given to hundreds of children to learn the ABCs of this sport.

The Volleyball Federation of Serbia is scouting the stars of tomorrow as the young guests of the Novi Sad Masters get to know some basic techniques and skills, which are being transferred to them by one of the world’s most famous volleyball players, Olympic champion Vladimir Grbic.

Vanja, as he is nicknamed, is a living legend in his home country; he is currently the Vice President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia, a member of the FIVB Development Commission and in 2011 he was also inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame at Holyoke, Massachusetts.

These master classes are being organised every year and are open to kids and teenagers up to the age of 14. Their primary goal is to promote a healthy life style among the youth, but of course the aim is also to popularise beach volleyball in Serbia.

“It is amazing to see how many kids are coming to these classes every year,” Grbic says. “It surprises me even more since nowadays kids would rather opt to play computer games. We always get to discover many talents and this season makes no exception to this rule. However, the most important thing is that they are all having a lot of fun.”

The kids literally love Grbic and the figures also speak for themselves: so far as many as 6,100 children have participated in the beach volleyball classes held over the last few years and this season 2,500 participants have already showed up to join and learn the ABCs of beach volleyball.
