South American Beach Tour: the first day in Medellin

 Medellín, Colombia, May 30, 2014 – The city of Medellin started a beach volleyball party on Friday with the best players on the South American continent. Sixteen 16 men's pairs and 16 women's pairs – with seven men’s pairs and six women's pairs being local – started to compete for a new title. 

The Colombians join their colleagues from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela on the penultimate stop of the South American Beach Volleyball Tour 2014. 

In the women's competition, the most famous Colombian player, Andrea Galindo, with new partner Jeimy Luna celebrated two victories – over another Colombian pair, Johana Mora and Katerine Valderrama, 2-0 (21-18, 21-13) and against Michelle Valiente and Erika Mongelos of Paraguay, 2-0 (21-19, 21-19). 

Brazil confirmed their top position on the South American ranking as Fernanda Berti and Elize Maia won two matches. The Argentine duel between Zonta/ Puntin and Hiruela/ Verasio was won by ARG 1 (Zonta/ Puntin) 2-0 (23-21, 21-15). The winners also celebrated victory over Colombia 5, 2-0 (21-15, 21-16), while Hiruela/ Verasio obtained a great victory over Venezuela 1, 2-1 (21-16, 8-21, 15-7).

On the men’s side, Brazil’s Evandro/ Harley overcame Argentina 2, 2-0 (21-15, 21-13). The Argentina 1pair of Mehamed/ Del Coto overcame Colombia 5, 2-0 (21-13, 21-15) and then Colombia 2, 2-1 (16-21, 21-18, 18-16), while Aulisi/ Aveiro defeated Colombia 7, 2-0 (21-11, 21-18).
