2014 edition of the Medical and Anti-Doping Regulations now available
The document is available by clicking here.
We would like to draw your attention to three major modifications.
The first concerns the name of the document: "Medical Regulations" becomes "Medical & Anti-Doping Regulations".
The second change is related to the FIVB Injury Surveillance Program and to injury prevention devices. The section on "Injury prevention devices players are using" now states:
a) Ankle braces are acceptable
b) All taping is acceptable, but it is recommended to have one colour, i.e. white. Hand taping is acceptable.
c) Knee pads and elbow pads are acceptable.
d) Compression pads are approved but require to be of the same colour design of the uniform
e) Gloves are not accepted, except in case of medical necessity especially in the case of a skin disease
The third modification concerns part D of the regulations on "Medical services to be provided during FIVB sanctioned competitions".
The final paragraph in point 8, concerning an ambulance in front of the sports hall, now states " resuscitation equipment and specialized medical staff to be compulsory in sports halls during competitions. An ambulance is highly recommended. In any case, the time to get an ambulance should be less than 10 minutes."
The new regulations came into force on April 4, 2014.
