Turkey's young players are hoping to make their way to the Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing |
Antalya, Turkey, May 8, 2014 - The Turkish teams
participating in the 2014 CEV Youth Beach Volleyball Continental Cup Final from
May 15-17 in Antalya are taking the opportunity to watch the matches of the
2014 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite Antalya.
The young Turkish players are trying to absorb as much
as possible from the experienced men and women participating in the Satellite
tournament. Adem Mert, assistant coach of the Turkish duos, comments that it is
good for the youngsters to watch and learn from what they see on the sand
court.
“We started preparation with 8 women’s and 8 men’s U19
teams,” Mert says. “We have organised three preparation camps so
far. One was in Ankara, one in Istanbul, and the third took place in
Alanya. Now we continue in Antalya. We observed many players over
this period and chose our pairs. Our preparation started about one and a
half months ago. Two women’s and two men’s duos will join the Youth Continental
Cup Final.”
“The reason we are at this Satellite tournament is to
give our young players the opportunity to learn by watching,” Mert
explains. “We started our preparation in beach volleyball halls
and now we have the chance to continue our work outdoors in Antalya. I think
the players have prepared well and I hope they will get good results.”
The young players of Turkey stated that they are very
happy to be in Antalya at the CEV Satellite and it is very helpful for them to
watch some of the international matches taking place.
The 2014 CEV Youth Beach Volleyball Continental Cup
Final serves as a European qualification tournament for the inaugural beach
volleyball competition at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing,
