Santa Fe welcomes international volleyball symposium

The three-day symposium attracted over 500 participants

Santa Fe, Argentina, May 7, 2014 – The International Volleyball Symposium held in Santa Fe from May 2-4 attracted over 500 coaches from Argentina and the South American continent, again making the capital of the province of Santa Fe one of the country’s most important centres for volleyball training and development courses.

The opening ceremony took place on Friday afternoon at a packed Stella Maris Hall at UPCN Country Club. Local and national authorities attended, including Santa Fe province Sport Director Gustavo Voos, FeVA President Juan Antonio Gutiérrez, Argentina's FIVB Development Centre Director Gabriel Salvia and Santa Fe Volleyball Federation President Fabián Bochatay.

Argentina's Women’s National Team Head Coach Guillermo Orduna gave the first presentation. He was followed by Julio Velasco, recently named Argentina's coach for the men's teams, who provided a detailed explanation of his project and goals for the national team.

Conferences continued over the weekend. Symposium participants were also invited to take part in practical sessions on the court.  Lecturers included international coach Raúl Lozano, local coaches Eduardo Allona and Juan Manuel Serramalera, Diego Soler,  who specialises in statistics, Dr. Arnoldo Álbero on medical matters, and Carmelo Pittera from Italy, who discussed introducing young players to the game of volleyball.

Santa Fe also hosted FeVA and National Technical Secretariat meetings over the same period.
