Velasco names new trainer of Argentine Senior Men's Team

Velasco, who will coach Argentina for the first time this year, chose Medeiro to work along side him
Buenos Aires, Argentina, April 3, 2014 – Carlos Medeiro will be the new trainer of Argentina's Senior Men's Team, coached by Julio Velasco.

Velasco, who will coach Argentina for the first time this year, chose Medeiro to work along side him as the team prepares for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, due to his years of experience.

Medeiro previously worked as a National Physical Education professor, from 1985, and in 1991 obtained his Master in Physical Education. He also worked as a trainer for the Argentine Futbol Association, as well as field hockey, basketball and rowing. Medeiro also worked as a teacher, and is an ENARD methodologist for team sports and cycling.

His volleyball experience includes work with the Argentina Senior Women's Team from 1989-1991, and the Senior Men's Team from 2000-2001. Medeiro also worked during two Olympic Games, in Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000, and six FIVB World League tournamnets from 1996 to 2001.

"I am very enthusiastic about this new job, and I hope I am able to fulfil my duties," Medeiro said. "I am confident I will be able to work well with the team, headed by Velsasco.

"My goal is to help each of the players get stronger, so we can prevent injury and determine how we can reach our goals for the future.“
