Volleyball family mourns the untimely death of international referee Vugar Jafarov

Baku, Azerbaijan, March 4, 2014 – The FIVB is deeply saddened by the death of Azerbaijan’s international referee Vugar Jafarov who passed away on Sunday, aged 44.

An international referee since 2012 and a police officer, Mr. Jafarov started his career in 2008 following the International Referee Course held in Ankara, Turkey.

Mr. Jafarov’s last international match was on January 15 where he was the first referee for the 2014 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Women 1/8 final fixture between Zarechie Odintsovo of Russia and Slovenia’s Nova KBM Branik Maribor.
