Level II Coaches Course successfully completed in Tehran

The 36 national coaches came from all around the country and included five women, 23 former national senior team players and 12 active coaches.

Tehran, Iran, August 25, 2013 - The Volleyball Federation of Iran conducted an FIVB Level II Coaches Course from August 14 to 25 in Tehran.

The course was led by Tatsuya Adachi (FIVB Instructor and Course Director from Japan) and Dr. Khosrow Ebrahim (FIVB Instructor/Course Instructor from Iran).

The facilities for the course were provided by the Education and Research Committee branch of the Federation.

The course focused on the FIVB’s organisation and history as well as the development and knowledge of modern volleyball. Video clippings of the World Championships in different years were used to give participants some sense of the changing rules. Aside from the theoretical component of the course, participants also had the chance to practice skills learned in the course. The course material looked at advanced training methods for players in different positions on the team as well as fitness development.

“The course looked closely at the ways in which coaches can motivate players and enhance their confidence through the practice of the sport,” said Adachi. “Other subjects that were discussed were offensive organisation, defense, transition games, different styles of play and the physical preparation of players.”

As Course Instructor Dr Khosrow Ebrahim said, “This is not the first time the federation has held a Level II Coaches Course. But this course was totally different from previous ones, because we had a high level of coaches participating. One of the participants held a PhD degree while five were studying for their PhD in different subjects of sport. Seven of the participants held a Master’s degree and the remaining had Bachelor’s degrees. Some of the participants were also coaches of national and club teams.”

All the course participants passed the required exams to earn their course certificate.

In addition to the course director and instructor, the closing ceremony was attended by Dr Mohamad Reza Davarzani (Iran Volleyball President), Mr Halim Sharee (Men's Volleyball Vice-President of the Iran Volleyball Federation), Mr Mahmood Afshardoost (General Secretary), Mr Saeed Derakhshandeh (Director of International Events) and Javed Mehrgan (Course Manager).
