Argentina in final preparations for Men's U21 World Championships in Turkey

Argentina were the runners-up at the U21 World Championship in 2011

Pianborno, Italy, August 15, 2013 – Argentina will play Brazil, Japan and hosts Italy in friendly matches organised in Italy’s Bresnia Region in preparation for the Men’s Under 21 World Championship to take place in Turkey from August 22 to September 1.

The friendly tournament, which started on August 14, will take place in Borno, Costa Volpino, Darfo Boario Terme and Castione della Presolana. The tournament will end on Saturday, August 17.

The Argentina team left Buenos Aires on Monday, beginning their training programme immediately after their arrival.

The Men’s U21 World Championship provides a platform for the next generation of stars to showcase their skills on the international stage and potentially take the big step into the giant world of the senior ranks.

The competition features a revised format having been expanded from 16 to 20 teams, made up of the hosts and 19 qualifiers.

Russia are the defending champions after their success in Brazil in 2011, their eighth in 11 appearances in the competition. They will face a double South American threat – from Argentina and Brazil – as well as from fellow Europeans Serbia, Poland and Italy.
