Gabon to host Pool F women at World Championship qualifier

 
Cameroon's women's team is the favourite to win the gold medal a the Women's Pool F sub-zonal qualifier

Libreville, Gabon, July 18, 2013 - Gabon will host the Women’s Pool F qualifying tournament of the sub-zonal phase of African qualifications for the 2014 World Championship. The tournament is set to begin in Libreville on Thursday.

The competition comprises four teams led by favourites Cameroon, host Gabon as well as Congo Brazzaville and DR Congo. Only the top three teams in the round robin tournament will secure their tickets to the zonal phase. 

The African World Championship Qualifier is made up of three stages. The sub-zonal stage will qualify 30 teams to the second round or the zonal phase to be held in October and November 2013.

The top 12 teams from the zonal phase will be joined by the top two ranked teams in the FIVB ranking. They will play in two pools during the final phase in January and February 2014, where the leader of each pool will qualify directly for the 2014 Women's World Championship in Italy.

The tournament will be held over three days from July 19 to 21.
