Volleyball Information System course completed in Bahrain
The Volleyball Information System (VIS) course is aimed at developing and improving data acquisition and analysis so that journalists, press agencies and technicians may report effectively and consistently on game statistics and results.
The FIVB has developed the Volleyball Information System, as it is crucial to deliver clear and comprehensive match information to both the press and the public.
In essence, the Course aims to:
- Train competition organisers on the Volleyball Information System
- Make Volleyball more easily understood by the public and the national and international media
- To report clear match results and statistics on teams and individual players
Effective data analysis, such as VIS, also allows for proper comparison and evaluation of different teams and players both before and after a match. The FIVB VIS is also used to calculate the individual skills of Volleyball players. The information emanating from VIS is then used to identify the top scorers, spikers, blockers, servers, diggers, setters and receivers from FIVB Competitions, and thus adding another element to the game.
Twenty-one men took part in the seminar from Bahrain and Ukraine. The course was very well organized with a good teaching atmosphere and a full support from both the Bahrain Volleyball Association and the Bahrain Volleyball Development Centre.
