Former coach of Algeria's national team passes away

 
Ahmed Boukacem, former coach of  women's national volleyball team of Algeria, has passed away after a long battle with cancer aged 56.

Boukacem was coach of the national team that took part in the Women’s World Cup that took place in Japan in 2011. During his career he coached Algeria’s Petroleum Group (PSG) club and was also a Level 2 FIVB coach.  

The Algerian also enjoyed a successful playing career and was a member of the men’s national team that won the bronze medal at the All African Games in Algiers in 1978. Boukacem began his coaching career training players for MCAlger team which later became the GS Petrolier club.
