Mexico edges Brazil in friendly match

The Mexican boys have been training and playing in Brazil since March 24 as they continue with their preparation for the Under-19 FIVB Boys World Championship
Saquarema, Brazil, April 2, 2013 – The Under-19 Mexico’s Boys national team claimed an encouraging 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 27-25, 25-18) victory over Brazil as both teams continue with their preparation towards the FIVB World Championship to be held in Mexico from June 27 to July 7.

It was Mexico's first victory of Mexico against the Brazilians following losses in their two previous matches.

The Mexican team has been training at the Saquarema High Performance Centre of the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) since March 24.

“It is a big day for our team to get this win against a 'monster' like Brazil,” said Ariel Acosta, one of the members of the team coached by Oscar Licea. "We made it clear that this is not just any team."

“I feel really proud to be part of this Under-19 team,” added Acosta, who last September was one of the leading blockers at the Under-23 Pan American Cup in Langley, Canada.
