Paraguay welcomes the fifth stop of South American Beach Volleyball Circuit

Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil, March 21, 2013 – After four stops, the South American Circuit will
move to Paraguay’s capital, Asuncion where the Continental Beach Volleyball party
will be held from March 22 to 24. In all there are 24 teams hailing from Argentina,
Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay and Venezuela and the host country
will participate with four local pairs in the men’s and women’s categories.
As Bruno
Zubizarreta, President of the Paraguayan Volleyball Federation said, “We are
pleased to be hosting this high level competition that takes place in our
country for a third time. This year the Tournament will take place at the Eco
Park Felicidad. These courts are artificial and are equipped with lighting,
which means that in the games can be played late into the evening without a problem.”
“Beach
volleyball has grown considerably in our country over the last 3 years and we
believe that we will grow more still. Our women’s team won the silver medal at
the Beach Volleyball Bolivarian Games in 2012, which was a big step for our
athletes. For this tournament, we are convinced that we can achieve good
results with both the men’s and women’s teams."
At the fourth stop
of the South American Beach Volleyball Circuit held in Lima, Peru Brazilian duo
Rebecca-Liliane won gold while Elize-Fernanda went away with silver in the
women’s competition. Thiago-Alvaro took home gold in the men’s competition
leaving the Grimalt cousins with silver and third place to Venezuela’s Mussa-Colina.
