Kaleh Mazandarn retain Iran Super League crown
Kaleh had lost to Matin 3-1(21-25, 25-21, 31-29, 25-23) two days previously, but they pulled out all the stops to claim the title before more than 8,000 spectators at Azadi Sports Centre.
The win means they’ll be back at the Azadi Sports Centre at the end of April for the Asian Club Championship.
With the stakes so high, the tension was obvious and both sides committed sloppy errors, but the Kaleh players made the right moves at the right moments and emerged victorious.
Twelve teams competed for the title, playing 62 games at home and 62 away, followed by additional matches in the playoffs.
Paykan Tehran took the bronze medal.
