New line-up of Argentina's Women's team annouced
Buenos Aires,
Argentina, March 12, 2013 – This year’s line-up for the Argentine Seniors' Women’s team
is official. The team was presented to
national media at a press conference on Tuesday at the VIP hall of the Cenard
facilities.
The press
conference was led by Argentine Volleyball Federation (FeVA) President, Juan
Antonio Gutierrez. Also present were coach Guillermo Orduna, Juan Manuel
Serramalera (assistant coach), Marcelo
Magliarella (trainer) and Guillermo Cáceres
(coach national team age categories). Players Yael Castiglione and Tatiana Rizzo were also
at the conference as were Fabian Ramon, Vicente Finelli and Oscar De Sarro
(members of the Argentine women’s and girls’ teams coaching staff), Gabriel
Salvia (FeVA Secretary) and Jose María Cuadrillero (FeVA Under-Treasurer).
"We are
doing this event to officially launch the new phase of the women's team with
the complete support of the Argentine Volleyball Federation for the period of
the next four years with the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 as the main
goal," said Gutierrez. "I am
very proud of the unanimous election that the FeVA carried out, showing
complete confidence in this coaching team," he added.
Coach Orduna pointed
out the importance of this new challenge in his career. As he said " my aim is to put back Argentina in a Women’s
World Championship and to qualify them for an Olympic Game for the first time
in their history."
Castiglione, as one of the most experience players, said, "Every change produces dreams and
illusions." "We have to make good use of everything that has been
done until now and keep adding to this
new experience.” Her compatriot Rizzo also agreed saying, “I have a lot of dreams concerning what I see on the field and
the future of our national team. We hope to play a World Championship."
The national team began their training immediately after the Press
Conference.
