FIVB roundtable discussion on “Igniting Volleyball”

Lausanne, Switzerland, March 12, 2013 – Following the direction of FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F°, the FIVB hosted a roundtable discussion on Monday and Tuesday entitled “Igniting Volleyball”.

The discussion brought together FIVB executives, representatives from the FIVB TV and Marketing as well as the Sports Events and the Beach Volleyball departments to exchange ideas with key industry leaders in the areas of television, sport entertainment and brand experience.

The goal of the roundtable was to provide a space for stakeholders to have an open and interactive discussion on the format and performance of the sport of volleyball as well as other issues relating to the sport’s media presence and it’s interaction with its audiences. The ideas generated are key input to the FIVB's marketing strategy focused on bringing volleyball to the world.

“To help us grow as an organisation and as a sport, it is necessary to take the time to brainstorm with people who have experience in various fields,” said President Graça. “The time for thinking ‘outside-the-box’ is now and such activities are necessary to take our sport to the next level,” he continued.

The meeting included a number of leaders in the sport and media industries including: Christophe Dubi (IOC Sports Department Director); Michael Payne (Strategic Advisor to FIVB Marketing and former IOC Marketing Director); Marco Balich (Creative Director and Producer, Filmaster Group); James O’Brien (Director, Progress Productions); and Sam Leadsom (IMG).
