China finished third at the 2011 FIVB Volleyball Girls' U18 World Championship but continue to top the FIVB Junior and Youth World Rankings for women |
Lausanne, Switzerland, March 1, 2013 – The International Volleyball Federation has issued an update to the FIVB Volleyball Junior and Youth World Rankings for men and women following the latest continental events in 2012.
The FIVB Executive Committee has decided to publish an updated rankings for the beginning of 2013 with a further update to be provided once five continental events – CEV U18 Girls and Boys U19 Championships and CAVB U21 Men’s, U20 Women and U18 Girls’ Championships – are completed between March 2 and April 21.

The top three of the Men’s Junior and Youth World Ranking remains the same with Serbia leading the way followed by Argentina and Spain. Brazil swapped places with Russia to move up one spot into fourth. The big movers in the top 40 were Nicaragua, up 22 places from 55th to 33rd, Italy up 18 spots from 43rd to 25th and Rwanda up 14 places from 34th to 20th.
Meanwhile, the top three in the Women’s Junior and Youth World Ranking are also unchanged with China, Brazil and Italy one, two and three respectively. The major changes see Turkey swap places with USA from fifth to fourth while Mongolia, up 34 places to 46th, Hong Kong up 31 places to 38th and India, up 27 places from 55th to 28th, have witnessed the biggest gains inside the top 50.
