Brazilian beach volleyball gets up to speed with new rules
International referee Elzir Martins met with Brazil's players to explain the new rules for 2013|
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, February 04, 2013 – Brazil’s beach volleyball players have got a jump on the competition when it comes to the new rules for the season after watching a series of presentations at their national training centre.
The Brazilian Volleyball Federation (CBV) recently invited international referee Elzir Martins to Aryzão, the Brazilian Center for Volleyball Development, in Saquarema, to instruct their teams on the rule changes for 2013.
“I am really satisfied because athletes and coaches received the changes really well,” Martins said. “They asked questions and I answered the doubts. They were also really interested in the disciplinary aspect and they fully participated in the workshop.”
The presentation continues the Federation’s policy of running presentations and workshops for their players to be ready for life on the World Tour; in December their players underwent media training to understand how it can help promote their sport and themselves.
“We are developing many workshops,” CBV beach volleyball director Tadeu Saad said. “In this one, under the guidance of Elzir, the idea was to talk about the implementation of the rules that will be introduced this year.
"With television and social media the players are more exposed than ever before and they need to understand how it can affect them and how they can deal with it.”
