Stoklos to become volleyball coach at US school

Randy Stoklos will coach indoors at Palisades Charter High
Colorado Springs, USA, January 3, 2013 – Former Beach volleyball star Randy Stoklos will return to his roots to become coach of the boys’ volleyball team at Palisades Charter High School in California.

Stoklos, 52, is an alumnus of “Pali High,” where he won two city championships with its boys’ volleyball team. He also served as an assistant coach for its boys’ team last season, when it won a City Section championship.

While most people recognize Stoklos for his beach volleyball success as an athlete – including four FIVB World Tour Championships starting with the inaugural title in 1989 with Sinjin Smith – he has experience on the hard court as well.

After playing at Pali High, Stoklos was on the U.S. Boys’ Junior National Team that won the Pacific Rim Championship. He went on to play setter at Santa Monica City College, where he was named Most Valuable Player, and then at UCLA. He also played indoors professionally in Italy.

“Needless to say, the game has changed quite a bit,” Stoklos said. “But I’ve been around it in roundabout ways in the last 10 years. I am very confident in my ability.”

For the last 12 years, Stoklos has run beach volleyball camps in Southern California.
