L’Etoile filante and l’As Douanes crowned Togo league champions

L’Etoile filante men's team were crowned Togo's champions

Lome, Togo, December 20, 2012- At the end of Togo's national league championship season, L’Etoile filante men's and l’As Douanes women's teams were crowned  champions for 2012.

The competition featured 7 clubs in the women’s competition and 11 in the men’s coming from different regions of the country.

In the women’s final, Douanes and Agaza played a hotly contested match that ended in a straight set win 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-23) for the former.  The winners put pressure on Agaza from the start of the match through their skilful setter, Lucky. This allowed Alice Sena and Dzifa Adandohoin to perform their job as attackers. Although Agaza tried to save the match in the third set, the experience of the Douanes players enabled them to win the crucial points for a straight sets victory.

The men's final was also exciting as L’Etoile filante overpowered Agaza, winning the first set in 20 minutes. L’Etoile used their attackers Gadji Robert and Atsou Antao well, while the young Florent Apezoumon helped to secure victory for the team.
