Trentino keeps rolling with win over Casa Modena

Match MVP Matey Kaziyski recorded 17 points for Trentino
Trentino, Italy, November 29, 2012 – Casa Modena managed to briefly throw Trentino Diatec off their game in the first set, but the world club champions came storming back to record a 3-1 (24-26, 25-9, 25-14, 25-18) victory in front of their home crowd in Serie A action on Wednesday evening.

This was the second match in four days for Trentino – it was a catch-up game that had originally been scheduled for October when the team was in Doha for the Club World Championships. With the win, Trentino's winning streak now stands at 15 matches.

Following a shaky start, Trentino took a firm hold on the game and established clear superiority in attacking, blocking and serving throughout the last three sets. Matey Kaziyski was selected MVP of the match.

“Modena put us in big trouble and made us understand that to win we have to play better than we had ever done,” said Kaziyski. “In the second set we found ourselves and above all we changed our attitude. We needed these three points to keep us in close contact with Macerata.”

With the win, Trentino remains one point behind Macerata in the Serie A standings with 20 points. Their next match is on Sunday against Copra Elior Piacenza.

Casa Modena’s nine points put them in eighth place.

”It’s a shame, obviously, to have missed this chance in Trento, but the game was a good experience,” said Casa Modena coach Angelo Lorenzetti. “In the first set we did the right things, but then we lost confidence. We started trying to do too much, even in simple situations.”
