2012/13 South American Beach Volleyball tour to start in Argentina
Santa Fé, Argentina will once again play host to an important beach volleyball event|
Santa Fe, Argentina, November 14, 2012 – Argentina’s ninth largest city Sante Fe will have the honour of being the first stop on the 2012/13 South American Beach Volleyball Tour for both men and women when it welcomes the best of South America’s beach players from November 23 to 25.
It is another sign that the Argentine Federation of Volleyball (FeVA) is committed to the development of beach volleyball as it is the first time that a South American stop for both men and women will be played in the country. The cities of Rosario and Mar del Plata have only hosted men’s matches in the past.
Earlier this year, the Argentine women’s beach volleyball team of Ana Gallay and Virginia Zonta qualified for the London 2012 Olympic Games after beating Uruguay at Parador Triferto in Santa Fé. As the first Argentine women’s team to qualify for the Olympic Games, this South American stop is a great chance for them to provide further evidence why they are the best Argentine pair.
There will be 12 teams in both the men’s and women’s competitions with participants from Brazil, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay joining the hosts among others.
Argentina is an important stop in the tour for men’s beach volleyball and the crowds can expect the participation of 2011 Pan-American Games bronze medallists Pablo Suárez and Santiago Etchegaray.
