Talent Identification Camp in La Paz draws surprising crowds

School volleyball is a base to build on in La Paz
Entre Rios, Argentina, October 23, 2012 – About 20 players from different provinces that will be part of Argentina’s Youth Boys’ team next year took part in a volleyball talent identification training camp in La Paz, Argentina, coached by Julian Alvarez.

Having players who will represent the country in international competitions in national teams present – something that has never happened before – meant that, unusually for a simple talent-identification camp, each training session was held in a stadium crowded with fans.

The experience was so positive that provincial officials decided to reintroduce official competitions for that city’s teams.

La Paz was the second training camp location, after Villa María (Córdoba), gathering young players from San Juan, Buenos Aires province, Santa Fe and Entre Ríos. Players from the host city were also involved – it is hoped that La Paz will become an important volleyball venue in the near future.

Headed by Jorge Torres, 4th FeVA vice-president and the treasurer of the Entre Rios Volleyball Federation (FEV), as well as Guillermo Escanes, coach of the U18 Entre Rios Volleyball Team, the Volleyball Talent Identification Training Camp for local and neighbourhood towns was held under the supervision of the Argentine Volleyball Federation.
