Europe's next golden generation ready to shine at U18 Championship in Brno

Brno, Czech Republic, July 4, 2012 - The city of Brno is well ready to play host to the 2012 CEV U18 Beach Volleyball European Championship that will run there through this coming Sunday, July 8, with four courts whose set up was eventually completed on Wednesday, two hotels that are hosting players, coaches and officials as well as the members of the local staff and the many volunteers who got involved in the event. There is much excitement in the air as for most of the players this is actually their debut on the international scene.

Michal Hadrava and Ondrej Benes will be carrying the Czech hopes in the men’s tournament and questioned about his feelings as only a few hours are left before the first match out there, Hadrava says: “Today I had a training session there at the venue and I felt like I finally got in the right shape. I hope this good feeling will accompany me also throughout the next days. We do not feel that much pressure, but I think it will come right by the moment we take on our first match”.
As for Ondrej Benes, his position is quite particular being the son of the Organizing Committee President, Josef, who is also the main promoter of the event.

Hadrava and Benes see the pairs from Russia and Poland as the main favorite for the medals and hope they won’t cross their ways right from the Pool play starting on Thursday. “We hope to make it to the top ten in the end. Anything better would be just a surplus and a nice surprise of course” they stress.

The weather forecasts are seen with mixed feelings by the local organizers as temperatures shall rise up to 33 degrees but showers and thunderstorms may also accompany the actions of these young stars up to next Sunday. Still the Czech staff hopes it won’t affect the first couple of days as the schedule is extremely tight with the many matches of the Pool play before the competition goes on with the knock-out phase. Apart from this, Brno shall turn into a real Beach Volleyball arena for the next four days and everyone wishes the Championship to turn into a major success!
