Argentinian President in send-off to athletes

Argentina President Cristina Fernández told the athletes to fly the flag high
Buenos Aires, Argentina, June 27, 2012 – Argentina President Cristina Fernández welcomed some of the country’s top athletes to Government House on Wednesday, including members of the men’s volleyball team, in a special sending off ceremony.

Representing Argentine volleyball alongside members of the team were Argentina Volleyball Association (FeVA) officials Fabián Ramón and José María Cuadrillero.

“As usual, we are saying goodbye to the athletes that will represent us with our flag very high,” Fernandez said. “Go to London to show with honour that we are Argentinian.”

"We increased 1,250 per cent of our Sports Budget, scholarships were increased and also the people that receive them and therefore we feel very happy,” she added. “Sport needs concentration, to leave things aside to train, and therefore they make us proud and the Paralympic athletes they have an impressive merit, they reveal a very human emotion, courage and the feeling that to go forward even though all difficulties.”
