Another feather in the sport's cap was the gold medal claimed by the Cuba boys' team at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, not to forget the 12 medals won on the Beach Volleyball NORCECA Circuit.

These players topped the list of the best players selected by the Cuban federation, which was completed by Raydel Hierrezuelo, Yoandy Leal and Yoana Palacio, juniors Yassel Perdomo and Yonder García, and Beach Volleyball players Kirenia Ballar, Sergio Gonzalez and Yoendry Kindelan.

The best rookies were Fernando Hernandez, 21, and Rosanna Giel, 18, who are starting players in the national teams. Orlando Samuels, coach of the men's national team, Rodolfo Fernandez, coach of the junior team in Singapore, and referee Lourdes Perez, were also among the recognised individuals.
