Russia claim win over Peru

Russia were potent in attack as they claimed the win
Quanzhou, China, August 13, 2011 – Russia clinched their second win of the weekend in the 2011 FIVB Volleyball world Grand Prix with a straight sets (25-20, 25-17, 25-17) victory over Peru.

Russia changed its starting lineup as they brought in Ulyakina, Kabeshova and Merkulova.

Despite starting with a weaker side Russia still maintained their attacking prowess. The side had the lead throughout the first set to finish ahead.

Outside hitter Ekaterina Gamova was on fine form in the second and third set but she was joined by Merkulova whose direct kills and double blocks helped the side take the second and third set as they picked up the win to remain unbeaten.

On Sunday Russia play China and Peru take on Germany.
