Prisons battle past Pipeline to retain African Club Champs title

Kenya Prisons have represented Africa at the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship in the past two editions

Nairobi, Kenya, May 19, 2012- Kenya Prisons qualified for the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship after beating Pipeline in straight sets 25-20, 27-25, 25-16 to retain the CAVB African Women’s Club Championship following a thrilling final at Moi International Sports Center Nairobi on Saturday in front of more than 6,000 spectators.

The title, which is Prisons’ fourth, including the last three successively, means the Kenya club will represent Africa at the FIVB Women’s World Club Championship for the third year in a row. This year’s edition will be staged in Doha, Qatar from October 13 to 19.

Prisons has now won the CAVB African Women’s Club Championship in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Chlef of Algeria beat FAP of Cameroon in straight sets 25-17, 25-22, 25-23 to win the bronze medal.
