Badge pin collector is a popular fellow in Doha

The Iranian-born Mohamed Mirza Zare-Negad is one of the most popular sport fans in all Qatar

Doha, Qatar, October 18, 2012 – Mohamed Mirza Zare-Negad is better known in the local sport community of Qatar as the “Pin-Man” for his now famous collection of small badges attached to his jacket and hat as also for his constant presence in all the sport competitions taking place in the capital of the State of Qatar.

The Iranian born Mirza Zare-Negad, 51, was a volleyball player in his native country and never takes a rain-check when the opportunity arrives to watch good volleyball.

“I started collecting the pins in 2006 during the Asian Games here and I am not stopping,” he says. “I have attached to my jacket and hat around 600 and people are willing to give more as soon as they appreciate my collection.”

A used car dealer in Doha,  he is living in Qatar since 1972 and attends all the competitions involving Iranian teams and also when they are not taking part as it is the case now at the FIVB Club World Championships.

“I love all the sports and the environment around the competitions,” he comments. “I like meeting new people and making friends and the sport is a good way to achieve that.”

Mirza Zare-Naged plans to have an even bigger collection of badges when the 2022 Football World Cup takes place here.
“I want to be alive in twelve years to enjoy the event, but for the moment I am enjoying the volleyball matches the way I have done for the past four years now,” he said.
