The Qatari capital is building an enviable reputation as a world-class host of sporting events. In recent years it has welcomed the 15th Asian Games in 2006, the 3rd West Asian Games in 2005 and the 2011 Asian Indoor Games. The city is already preparing to host some of the matches for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Each match will be played at the
Aspire Dome. Men’s and women’s games will alternate, providing spectators with
the best of both worlds.
Aspire is one of the world's
largest indoor multi-purpose domes,
offering high quality
facilities for multiple sports and international events. Total
seating capacity is 15,500. The dome, which opened in 2005, hosts indoor sporting events such as basketball and volleyball,
as well as concerts, and
adjoins the Aspire
Sports Academy for Sports Excellence.
