The 2012 Club World Championships bring
together eight squads from around the globe, including the top teams from
Africa, Asia, Europe, NORCECA and South America. A sixth spot is reserved
for the host country, and the last two go to wild cards.
With the hosts being granted one vacancy, Al-Rayyan were chosen by Qatar
to be their representatives.
Zamalek of Egypt earned the African berth by winning the Men’s African
Club Champions Championship in Tunis, Tunisia, April 30. The Asian Men’s
Club Championship in Shanghai, China, was won by Qatar’s Al-Arabi on July
8. Zenit Kazan of Russia came away from the Indesit Champions League Final

wild card spots were awarded to the second and third place finishers from
that same tournament: PGE Skra Belchatow of Poland and Trentino
Diatec from Italy. Mexico’s Tigres de la Universidad Autonoma de
Nuevo Leon were nominated to take NORCECA’s spot. Brazil's Sada Cruzeiro
